Southern Outdoor Kitchen FAQs
Q: Why buy a Southern Outdoor Kitchen?
Do you like to cook on the grill? Do you like to entertain? Do you hate the stale smell of oil in your house after you fry foods? Do you like to be outside?
If you have answered yes to any of the above questions you should get a custom kitchen from Southern Outdoor Kitchens.
Q: How much do they cost?
The cost depends on the BBQ equipment you choose and the options you want for your kitchen.
Q: How long does it take once I place my order?
It takes 7 to 10 days to build the kitchen if we don’t have to special order the materials you choose. The BBQ equipment sometimes takes 2-3 weeks to arrive. Basic lead time is 3 weeks from time of order.
Q: Why buy Fire Magic Grills?
Fire Magic has been the leader in top of the line grills for decades and offers many commercial quality products for your outdoor kitchen. Fire Magic grills have the most generous warranty in the industry.
Q: What is the warranty on my kitchen?
The BBQ equipment and appliances you choose will have the manufacturer’s warranty and S.O.K. will give you a 2-year warranty on the kitchen against defects in workmanship and materials.
Q: Do you have a showroom?
Not yet. We will come to your home for a free consultation and bring a display model or you may visit our shop. We like to do a site inspection to determine what size will fit your space and what we will encounter on delivery.
Q: Where are the kitchens built?
The kitchens are built in our shop in Montgomery, Alabama. However, if the delivery area has stairs, narrow pathways, or tall decks we may choose to build them onsite.
Q: If I include a sink as an option for my outdoor kitchen will I need to have a water line and drain installed?
If you are building a house it would be a good idea to plan for this, but all you need to do is run a garden hose to the inlet and you can run a hose for the drain as well.
Q: If I have an electrical outlet installed, do I have to run a special line to the outdoor kitchen?
If you are building a house it would be a good idea to plan for this, but all you need is an extension cord from an existing outdoor plug.
Q: Do I have to cover my outdoor kitchen when not in use?
The materials we use are designed for outdoor use. However, it is a good idea to cover it to protect it from freezing weather and UV rays. Also your outdoor kitchen will require less cleaning if you use a cover.
Q: Can I use another manufacturer’s grill or my existing grill in my new outdoor kitchen?
You can use another manufacturer's grill if it is a good quality grill. Your outdoor kitchen will last for many years and you want a grill that will weather just as well. Also, finding a replacement grill with the exact dimensions and style may be difficult.
Q: Can my kitchen be moved once it has been set up?
Yes. Although heavy, if you want to move your outdoor kitchen to the other side of the porch or move it to a new house it can be done. Casters can be added to most models. You can’t do that with a bricked up model.
